   In 2007, 84.9 percent of the U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized population had health care expenses. These persons paid an estimated total of 1.13 trillion dollars for health care services such as: hospital inpatient and outpatient care, emergency room services, office-based medical provider services, dental services, home health care, prescription medicines, and other medical services and equipment.
