File 1 of HC-042 has been updated. The changes, which have been made to the File 1 data file and codebook, and to the HC-042 document, apply only to the LTC variables. These variables have been expanded to include the ICD-9 codes associated with long term care problems and conditions reported by persons in the 1997 long term care supplemental questionnaire. More information on the medical conditions can be obtained by using the encrypted condition code IDs to link to the 1996 and 1997 MEPS Medical Condition Files.
