   In 2006, 85.4 percent of the 97.7 million non-elderly full-time full year workers in the U.S. had private insurance at some point during the year. Among these privately insured workers, 96.9 percent had employer-sponsored coverage and 3.1 percent had individually purchased private insurance only.
