Question: What is the MEPS-IC Household Sample?
The MEPS-IC Household Sample (also known as the HC-IC Link sample) is a sample of employers and other sources of health insurance data that are identified by respondents in the MEPS Household Survey as their source of health insurance. This sample is directly linkable to the MEPS-HC survey data. The link file documentation for 1996 through 1999 can be downloaded from HC-IC Link File Documentation but the files can only be accessed at the AHRQ Data Center or at one of the Federal Statistical Research Data Centers. There was no MEPS-IC Household sample in 2000. Samples were fielded in 2001 and 2002, but the resulting databases have not been fully compiled or documented. No sample has been fielded since 2002.
