Question: Do you ever collect information directly from health insurance booklets?
In 1996, health insurance booklets were collected from the MEPS Household Component (MEPS-HC) respondents and the booklets were abstracted. This data (which is much more detailed in nature) is linked to the MEPS-HC sample. In combination, the MEPS HC-IC linked data and the abstracted health insurance booklets provide additional analytical detail to the MEPS-HC data for 1996. A new collection of health insurance booklet collection has not been scheduled.
