MEPS data provide critical input to the discussion of public policy issues, such as access to health care and health insurance, how health care spending is distributed according to individual and family characteristics, the cost of health insurance for individuals and employers, and how specific kinds of private and public health insurance are associated with use and spending for health care. You can access both MEPS data and analyses of that data online:
  • AHRQ News and Numbers highlight the use and cost of health services and health insurance in press release format.

  • MEPS Topics provide links to publications and tables of data available by areas of interest.

  • Numerous publications that use MEPS data are available. Several short publications, called Statistical Briefs, are released monthly on a variety of topics.

  • Try MEPSnet Query Tools—Interactive search tools that can lead you to the numbers you need.

  • For tables of data related to household medical expenditures at the national level, check the Household Component Summary Tables.

  • For tables of data related to employer-based health insurance at both the national and state level, check the Insurance Component Summary Data Tables.
