The MEPS Summary Tables
for both the Household Component and Insurance Component have moved to the following site:
For questions or comments, email mepsprojectdirector@ahrq.hhs.gov. With the MEPS-HC Data Tools, users can explore trends and cross-sectional bar charts for nationally representative estimates of household medical utilization and expenditures, demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, health insurance coverage, accessibility and quality of care, treated medical conditions, and prescribed medicine purchases. The new MEPS-HC Variable Explorer Tool, provides a quick and easy way to search across MEPS Public Use Files for variables and files needed for users' research projects.
With the MEPS-IC Data Tools, users can interactively explore maps, trends, and cross-sectional bar charts for topics related to national and state-level employer-based health insurance for employer characteristics/offerings; employee take-up; premiums; contributions; and cost-sharing. Private-Sector tables provide estimates by firm size, industry group, census region, and other characteristics at the Metropolitan Area levels. Public-Sector tables provide estimates by state and local government type, government size, and census division. Civilian-Sector estimates incorporate both the private and state and local government sectors. The interactive data can also be downloaded as Complete Table Series PDFs. Please note, in preparation for improvements in the data collection process, 2007 data for the Insurance Component was not collected. MEPS Insurance Component Chartbook 2020 (PDF, 11 MB) or HTML format: This chartbook provides both single-year and multiyear trend analyses using private-sector MEPS-IC data from 2008 to 2020. To best convey key information from the MEPS-IC, the report is presented in five sections: Health Insurance Offer Rates; Employee Eligibility and Enrollment; Health Insurance Premiums; Employee and Employer Premium Contributions; and Employee Cost Sharing. Each section provides charts and discussion with links to MEPS-IC data tables that contain the estimates and standard errors for each exhibit. MEPS Insurance Component 2020 Presentation Slides (may open in new window) or HTML format: Powerpoint slides with charts from the 2020 MEPS-Insurance Component Chartbook are available for use in presentations. Please note that the 2020 IC Chartbook PowerPoint file may not open in the current window. Depending on the browser you are using and its current settings, you may need to select an option in a separate window to download and then view the file.
