The Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) is a set of
large-scale surveys of families and individuals, their medical
providers, and employers across the United States. MEPS is the most complete
source of data on the cost and use of health care and health insurance

Under New Data Files The 1996-2023 MEPS-NHIS Link files contain crosswalks that will enable data users to merge the MEPS Full-Year Population Characteristics PUF, or similarly, the MEPS Full-Year Consolidated PUF, with the corresponding NHIS person-level PUFs that contain data collected for MEPS respondents in the year prior to their initial year of MEPS participation. For reasons of confidentiality, the MEPS-NHIS Link files are available only through the AHRQ Data Center.
