What's New Highlights
Under New Data Files
The MEPS HC-251: 2023 Full Year Consolidated Data File is a nationally-representative data file of all persons in the U.S. civilian non-institutionalized population in 2023. The file contains person-level variables for all persons participating in the 2023 MEPS, including variables from the 2023 Population Characteristics PUF, Self-Administered Questionnaire (SAQ) variables, fully-imputed employment variables, health care use variables, income variables, and health care expenditure variables.

Under New Data Files
The MEPS HC-250: 2023 Person Round Plan File is one in a series of data releases drawn from the 2023 MEPS Household Component (HC). This file contains records for persons insured through private establishments providing hospital/physician, medigap, dental, vision, or prescription medication coverage and includes variables pertaining to managed care and experiences with plans.

Under New Data Files
The MEPS HC-249: 2023 Medical Conditions File provides information on household-reported medical conditions collected from a nationally representative sample of the civilian noninstitutionalized population of the United States for calendar year 2023.

Under New Data Files
The MEPS HC-248I: Appendix to MEPS 2023 Event Files contains the Conditions-Event Link (CLNK) File, which includes variables needed to link the 2023 Medical Conditions File (HC-249) with the 2023 Event Files.

New Publications
Research Findings 52: Combined Prevalence of Chronic Conditions or Obesity for Adults in 2022. This Research Findings uses 2022 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey Household Component data to estimate the combined prevalence of having either chronic conditions or obesity for adults by age, sex, health insurance, poverty, region, and Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).

Under New Data Files
The 1996-2023 MEPS Replicates for BRR Variance Estimation File contains the standard MEPS person ID variables for linking with the 1996-2023 MEPS person-level public use files and a set of 128 sample indicators. Data can be used to calculate standard errors through application of the balanced repeated replication (BRR) technique.

Under New Data Files
The 1996-2023 MEPS Pooled Linkage Variance Estimation File contains combined variance stratum and PSU variables, along with the standard MEPS person ID variables, for linking with the 1996-2023 MEPS person-level public use files.

New Publications
Statistical Brief 565: Treatment and Health Expenditures among Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, U.S. Civilian Noninstitutionalized Population, 2018-2022. This statistical brief uses data from the Medical Expenditures Panel Survey to examine health expenditures for children aged 3 to 17 years with treated Autism Spectrum Disorder.
