Understanding Veterans' Healthcare Use and Experience, 2018-2019 |
Description: |
|
Examining veterans' healthcare utilization and patient experience (and thus predicting veterans' future demand for Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) health care) is an important process for ensuring that adequate resources will be available to meet the unique healthcare needs of this population over time. This report examines prevalence of selected medical conditions, healthcare utilization, and patient experience (i.e., VA versus non-VA healthcare providers) among Veterans in the U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized population. The first section presents socio-demographic, medical, and healthcare service utilization data among all Veterans, Veterans with VA coverage, and Veterans without VA coverage. The second section presents results on patient experience with VA versus non-VA providers, as well as care coordination between VA and non-VA providers. |
