This Statistical Brief presents data from the Household Component of the Medical Expenditure Survey (MEPS-HC) regarding colonoscopy screening percentages among the U.S. noninstitutionalized population, age 50 and older, in 2005. The colonoscopy screening tool is known for its use in the early detection of colorectal cancer. In 2005, 44 million, or about half (50.1 percent), of the U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized population age 50 and older reported that they have never had a screening colonoscopy. |
