In 2006, there were approximately 124 million nonelderly families in the United States civilian noninstitutionalized population. Among these families, 54.3 percent had private coverage all year (67.1 million), 7.1 percent had public coverage all year (8.8 million) and 14.8 percent were uninsured all year (18.3 million). Among nonelderly families in 2006, 46.2 percent were one-person families (57.1 million), 24.2 percent were two-person families (29.9 million), and 29.6 percent were families with three or more persons (36.5 million). |
