In 2014, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) increased the accessibility of health insurance by expanding Medicaid eligibility for adults with family incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL) and introducing tax credits and cost-sharing for private insurance coverage available through Marketplace exchanges. This statistical brief looks at the insurance status of mothers at the time of birth, before and after the introduction of the ACA, between 2008 and 2019. |
