Printing tips
Released as an ASCII file (with related SAS, SPSS, and STATA programming statements) and a SAS transport dataset, this public use file provides information collected on a nationally representative sample of the civilian non-institutionalized population of the United States for calendar year 2018. This file consists of MEPS survey data obtained in Rounds 3, 4, and 5 of Panel 22 and Rounds 1, 2, and 3 of Panel 23 (i.e., the rounds for the MEPS panels covering calendar year 2018) and contains variables pertaining to survey administration, demographics, person-level conditions, health status, disability days, quality of care, employment, health insurance, and person-level medical care use counts. The 2018 Full-Year expenditure and income data will be forthcoming.

User Note 8/28/2020: Please note the variance estimation strata (VARSTR) and primary sampling units within these strata (VARPSU) for this public use file have not been updated. Point estimates will not be impacted when the VARSTR and VARPSU variables are updated, but standard errors will change.
