1996 Nursing Home Component Questionnaires
Display page in Printer Friendly Format printer-friendly

The MEPS-NHC data collection instrument (used in the nursing home) comprises 12 computer-assisted personal interview (CAPI) questionnaires. Data were collected from community sources (via telephone) using a CAPI questionnaire. A minor amount of data was collected from nursing home sources with paper questionnaires.

For general NHC questionnaire information, go to the summary of data collection activities (PDF, 10 KB), the detailed discussion of the NHC data collection instrument, and the list of the acronyms and terms used in the NHC questionnaires.

The NHC questionnaires are available as PDF files (excluding the paper instrument used to obtain names and addresses of potential community respondents).

Note: The MEPS-NHC was conducted in 1996 only; there are no plans to conduct it again. Go to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) for information on the NCHS National Nursing Home Survey (NNHS), a continuing series of national sample surveys of nursing homes, their residents, and their staff that have been conducted in 1973–74, 1977, 1985, 1995, 1997, and 1999.
