Description: |
|
This Statistical Brief compares estimates of health expenditures for children with reported treatment for asthma in 1997-1998 and 2007-2008 using data from the Household Component of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey. The estimates are based on a sample of children younger than 18 years of age with reported treatment associated with asthma during the year. The average annual proportion of children reporting treatment for asthma in the U.S. increased slightly from 4.7 percent in 1997-1998 to 6.1 percent in 2007-2008. In particular, there were increases in the proportion of children ages 5-11 and ages 12-17, with reported treatment for asthma over the period. |
