MEPS HC-007: 1996 Jobs File
Release date: Fall 1999

Notes on viewing and downloading files
Printing tips
This public use data file contains the first jobs-level public use data files to be released from the 1996 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey Household Component (MEPS HC). Released as an ASCII file with SAS, SPSS, and STATA programming statements and in SAS transport format, this public use file provides information collected on a nationally representative sample of the civilian noninstitutionalized population of the United States during the calendar year 1996. This file consists of 1996 data obtained in Panels 1 Rounds 1, 2, and 3 of the survey and contains variables pertaining to household-reported jobs, including wages, hours, industry, and occupation.

The data are being released prior to final data cleaning and editing in order to provide the research and policy community prompt access to MEPS data. Analysts should consider these data as preliminary as they have not been subject to the same level of quality control procedures which are usually performed on products of this type.

For more information, see MEPS HC-014: 1996 MEPS HC Survey Data.
